No Wetsuit Girl does Capital City

I'll be spending this weekend in DC visiting some family friends with my mom. I'm hoping to get to run around the city where our country's biggest decisions are made. Don't worry, I promise to behave myself! I'm hoping to go on a run and see how many famous monuments I can hit in one morning.

Also on the agenda: I'm coming to the Big Apple! I'm meeting up with some friends from California the weekend of November 30-December 2. So far all I know about the trip is that we're going to be staying "somewhere in New York" and that we're going to see Phantom of the Opera. I hope I get to meet some New York bloggers like Renee, Michelle, and Satan (although I could never keep up with the fallen angel if we were to go running).

So story time will be back soon. In the meantime, here are some exciting developments and recent observations:

  1. I got a bike trainer, which took me a good half hour to put together (it's got 3 parts, including my bike). Now I can do two of my favorite things at the same time: ride my bike and watch CSI. One problem though, I have to turn my TV up to full volume to be able to hear it over the whirring of the trainer. Oh well, I think my parents can deal.
  2. I've been running in the cold. I can't feel my legs by the time I get home, and I think that's fucked up. This is how people get hurt!
  3. Daylight savings: I would just like to find the guy who invented streetlights that turn off when there aren't any cars around. I want to have just a few words with him. Most of those words will only have four letters in them.
  4. They have the Total Immersion book and DVD at my library! Too bad I still don't have a pool. More to come on this topic as well.
  5. It's too goddamn cold in my house, it's too goddamn cold in my cubicle (there's a draft so strong it blows the blinds around!), and it's CERTAINLY too damn cold outside!

Have fun biking in side! Are you going back to Spain or done with that? Just started reading your blog and like the humor!

ahhh...the trainer. Always a great excuse to catch up on the TV watching.

Wear two pairs of running pants...or run at lunchtime...even at lunchtime that won't help a lot...more clothes.

DC will seem tropical after the coldfest in MA.

I'm with you on the too damn cold, I just had to throw down for toe covers and tights and it was not good....although Louis Garneau should be showing a profit this quarter....

dreaded double post.....damn it....I blame it on my numb fingers from my 25 mile ride/1 mile walk 3.5 mile run affair.

Fun for you to play tourist a little bit.
I am so with you on the daylight saving time crap. I hate that stupid thing. I'd gladly hold that guy down while you 'share a few words with him,.'
Cold? It's only November, just you wait, late January will really suck.
